Hi everyone!
How are we all doing? Well I am almost, almost, settled into the Design Team over at DigiChoosday Crafting at Polkadoodles and here I am with my DT make for Week 7's challenge. The challenge this week was Shape It. Now this was a challenge for me, I am useless with scissors, so anything with a shape is usually made with a good old cutting machine and a cutting die!
However, for this weeks challenge I wanted to take that all important step out of my comfort zone and yes, I decided to take on the challenge of the challenge ;)
I decided to settle on a cupcake card. Now for those of you who have read my previous posts, you'll recall I made a resolution to lose weight this year, so I'm currently on a diet, therefore, I am not 100% sure that the decision to make a cupcake card wasn't influenced by this!
I used one of Nikky Hall's digi bundle papers from the bundle Daisy Papers, they are really lovely, if you are a girly girl, like me, you'll love them. Anyway, I printed out the card and then used my secret weapon, my boyfriend! Yes, after watching me recreate the dying swan scene from Swan Lake, when I was halfway through the cutting, he swooped into the rescue and cut out the rest of the template. That's love people :)
I had already decided to use Trendsetter as I have been dying to colour her since I got her. I must have had a false sense of confidence, as I also decided to colour her hair blonde. I'm not 100% sure I did her justice but I will let you decide for yourselves.
I coloured her with Graph'It Markers and these are the colours I used:
Hair: 4115, 1210, 1250 & blender
Skin: 4115, 4150, 4170, 4145 (cheeks) 5110 (lips)
Eyes: 3110, 3140 & 3160
Top: 9500, 9501 & blender
Skirt & Boots: 5110, 5130, 5125, 5255, 9504, 9502 & blender
Leggings: 9501, 9500 & blender
So the next trauma, cutting her out. Yes, you guessed it, he swooped in again. Honestly, he's amazing! :)
Now it's not just cutting out that makes me nervous about shaped cards, I sometimes find them quite daunting to 'fill' as it were. However, I think the gorgeous backing paper and the image itself were quite enough and complimented each other so well, I decided to just add some ribbon, a wooden flower embellishment, and yes, flowers!
So there you have it. I hope you like it and please take some time to pop over to the challenge page and see the awesome makes by the Design Team - while you are there, why not have a go and enter too!
Thanks for popping by, see you again soon!
Hugs
