Hello there!
This week for the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog we are to 'Get Organised for Christmas' and the extra challenge for the DT members was to make a shaped card. I have so many shaped card blanks I could open a whole shop and sell card blanks! The reason I have so many of them is because I am scared of them, the idea of trying to mat and layer into a shaped card blank frightens me, so the best thing to do with things that scare you is to hide them at the back of the cupboard and never let them see the light of day again!!!
Now for this very reason I kind of went off track and skipped happily along the path of delusion and denial for a wee while. I decided in my great befuddled wisdom to make a little christmas gift bag. So I picked one of the delicious papers from 'Work & Play Festive Hollibobs' Collection and cut out a little gift bag on my Silhouette Portrait and I also decided to use the Snowman embellishment from the same collection along with some snowflakes. I also made one with the Christmas Tree instead of the Snowman.
Isn't he a little cutie??? I was very pleased with him and the tree and then I was talking to one of my fellow DT members and she reminded me that the challenge was 'Make a shaped CARD' - doh!
Of course, the problem is that I really like my little gift bag, you may think he doesn't look like much but I think putting these little gift bags on the table for Christmas, filled with a wee gift and some chocolates, is much more exciting than a cracker..............no? So, in a nutshell, the snowman's staying.
Right then, dilemma. Now what? Then my dear friend Jan off the Design Team suggested I make a shaped card the same as the tree and I thought 'ooooooooooooooooooooh interesting!'.
However, I am a big fan of Mr Snowman so, remember that whole story about the back of the cupboard? Well, I ventured to the cupboard, opened the box, closed my eyes, made a quick grab and was out of there quicker than Usain Bolt in the 100m!!!!
Lo and behold I had grabbed an A6 white card, it must have been fate to be so lucky! I printed out a large Mr Snowman and then cut him out on my portrait. I fixed him onto the front of the card, waited til he dried a wee bit and then cut round him to give a better 'shape'.
There you have them, a shaped greeting card and matching little gift bag. I was singing 'Frosty the Snowman' by the end of it, so thank you Jan for coming to my rescue with your fabulous creative imagination of ideas which I took and made my own ;)
Now don't forget to visit the Challenge Blog to see the rest of the DT's inspiration and to take part in the challenge itself click here.
Well I hope you liked your visit here today, don't forget to come back soon!
