This week is Paper Piecing........

Hi there folks!!

It's Tuesday and another challenge over at Digi Choosday Challenge and this weeks theme is paper piecing. Well I have never done paper piecing before so I was a tad scared at this new challenge. Nikky Hall has so many fab digi images I don't think that helped me to start with, there was so much to choose from!  However, I eventually settled on 'Ready for Rain' which is an image from the Dollie Daydream Girl Talk Collection which is downloadable as a bundle or as a CD-Rom.

The Graph'It Markers I used are:

Hair:  1250; 3110; 3140; 3150
Skin:  4115; 4155; 4170; 4145; 4175
Lips and Eyes: 4175; 5120; 7120; 7125
T-shirt:  7105; 7110; 7115, 9500; 9501
Jeans: 9100; 9101; 9102; 9103; 9104
Sneakers: 5110; 5130; 9502

I decided to paper piece the umbrella, thinking how hard can it be? Oh me. It took ages! I used one of the papers off of the Daisy Papers Bundle from Polkadoodles.  This paper is lovely and also has areas of shade in it that I used for the back of the brolly to give it some perspective.  Once all the elements of the brolly were cut out, (I had help again from you know who) I glued them on. You will see I added black marker to 'define' the umbrella and I probably shouldn't have went with such as intense colour. If I were to do it again, I would go for a lighter colour and a thinner line.

I used one of the frame maker boxes from Tonic that I had and forgot I had it, but I wanted to try something other than a card. When made up the area in the frame is about 4 inches. I had printed Dollie off at 4 inches and as you can see, she fit in perfectly. I mounted her onto pale blue cardstock. I chose to use lots of flowers off the Flowers & Leaves Digi Bundle and I put them into one of my card making programs and was able to change their size and flip them. I printed off a heap and then enlisted my helper to help me cut them out. The really good ones are his, the shabby ones are me! :)

I finished the project off with some butterfly's and hearts from the Doobadoo range available at Polkadoodles.

I hope you like her and don't forget to pop over to the Digi Choosday Challenge Blog and see the fantastic inspiration from the rest of the team; go on have a go and give it a try too, we love to see your makes!

Thank you for popping past and I hope to see you again soon.
