The Art of Transparency............................

Hello there

Well, it is Friday and here I am popping in again with my second, yes folks, my second piece as a DT member for Graph'It Markers Challenge Blog, yes, I can't help it, I'm still celebrating this amazingness! :)

So this weeks theme is, as you may have guessed, 'Transparency'. Now the joke here, in relation to me that is,  today's blog title, the 'art' of transparency, well my friends it IS an art and I can tell you quite honestly, I do not have one drop of skill in mastering this art.......this challenge scared me so much, I locked the pens in the cupboard until I could work up the courage to attempt to create inspiration for challenge entrants.

Now as you can see from above, I opted to use an image with glasses, see through, hence transparent. You may think this was an easy option, and maybe it is; but as I was applying glaze to the 'glasses' to give the full reflective effect, the glaze actually tones down the colouring, so getting the balance of the darker shade under the glasses and ensuring that the rest of the face stays balanced has some skill involved. Maybe. Well, this is what I am telling myself anyway! Lol!!

The second picture is to try and show you, honest there is glaze on them there glasses!!!  Unfortunately, to capture the glaze, I lost some of the lighting for the remainder of the image in that photo, but hopefully both close ups do the job.

Obviously the image is coloured with my one and only Graph'It Markers;

Skin;  4120, 4155, 3120
Hair:  1250, 3110, 3140, 3160
Jacket, Tie, Hair clip:  5210, 5220, 5245
Shirt:  7105, 7110
Skirt & Shoes:  7125, 7150, 7170
Book: 9506, 9508, 9509
Satchel:  3245, 3255, 3270

The image is 'Bookaholic' by 'ArtByMiran' and I have just discovered these images and as soon as I saw her, I needed her. Like, needed her yesterday! I'm sure I am not alone in that feeling, we crafters like what we like and NEED it always!!

I cut the image out with Spellbinders Pearl Effects, ran some Tattered Rose Distress Ink round the edges and there she was.

I know regular readers are all well aware of the 'Work & Play Collections' Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles creates, but in case you are new, (hi there), there are now SIX CD collections, some are also available as Digi Download bundles. They are collections of normally 10 characters, 5 girls and 5 boys, carrying out specific jobs/hobbies. So there are policeman/police ladies, train drivers, postmen, florists.....well you can get the gist, anyway, on 'Work & Play Collection 3' there is a teacher and the embellishments I have used in my card, the blackboard and books, are from that collection.  I think this is a great example of using all of our stash together, everything can be mixed, matched and all importantly, used!! No, that is not just for the benefit of my Other Half when he reads this..........................................................

Also, you may notice, that the blackboard has also not escaped the markers. Although I printed out the coloured image, I 'touched' it up to give it some extra ooomph.

The sentiment is also from Work & Play 3 and isn't it just so true?  I also edged round the sentiment with Tattered Rose. The papers are from Lili Of The Valley Nitwit Collection 'Country Meadow'.................sooooo pretty.

Little bit of ribbon, some bling, (coz where would we be without bling?), and there you have her.

I do hope you visit the main challenge blog and see the rest of the DT inspiration, there's water droplets, glasses, tons of inspiration to get your creative juices flowing, so hopefully you will join in the fun with us.

See you soon friends!

Hugs

Yvonne
